Synodical Money Well Spent?
Here is more on Jefferson Hills Church's ad campaign. This church received $25,000 in an Ablaze grant for this publicity stunt.
After watching this new story ask yourself if this was $25,000 well spent?

Wonderful. The guy thought some "atheist group" put it up.
Satan must have got a kick out of those billboards.
$25,000 spent on unclear crap.

Where is the input of congregations on funding decisions like this? Please tell me this is not where offering money goes. I'll be sick.

Since the cancellation of Issues Etc. is purportedly for finacial reasons, I would like to make a suggestion. I suggest we install pay toilets in the Purple Palace and seeing how those people down there on Kirkwood Rd., St. Louis are full of S*** the synod should rake in lots of money.
I sympathize with Kieschnick and the rest of those yahoos that say they don't have enough money. I would pay them what they are worth but I would have to violate the minimum wage laws.

"Jefferson Hills Church - 11:38pm
Home page for Jefferson Hills Church. A Purpose Driven Church specifically designed for people who don't go to church. Check us out before you risk it."
from the google search for "jefferson Hills church"
From their 'about us' page
"10. Q: What if I don’t really want to commit to all 3 steps in mission of Jefferson Hills?
A: Honestly! Then don’t join Jefferson Hills. We are absolutely committed to these three steps in living out the mission Jesus gave us. Perhaps another Christian church would serve you better. If you are not ready to commit to growing into these three steps, then be honest with yourself. You won’t offend us. In fact, tell us what kind of ministry you’re looking for. We know a lot of great ministries in the area that are doing things we aren’t in a position to do. We’ll be glad to help you find a Christian church home you can be committed to. Really, we will!"
So what happens if you are IN Jefferson Hills church, have made all the commitments, and change your mind, realizing it is false and has put you under a yoke Jesus commanded us not to take up again?
I'm thinking if Kieschnick and his cronies deserve to be confronted with "This is a confessional Lutheran synod, it IS our grandparents' church, and if you disagree with that, perhaps you'd feel more comfortable in a different synod."

How could any 'church' be proud of a sign that shouts to all and sundry on the highway about who 'sucks', but even the news service deems to be too offensive to show on their bulletin.
I'd be outraged that my donations were going to fund this garbage while IE was taken down for so-called 'stewardship' reasons!
Disgraceful!!

Looks like they don't understand the marketing tools that they are trying to use nor understand the risk management tools of considering the latent consequences of actions before implementing them.

But, hey, we are more united now than we ever have been or ever will be! Didn't you read Herr Predident's letter to the editor? If you don't agree with this then you just must not exist.

Ironic, how the JHC Pastor said the point of those billboards was to get the message out (and I assume by message he meant Gospel), but everyone interviewed clearly weren't getting it.

I just checked the church's website (http://www.jhchurch.org/Default.asp?) - its church growth garbage all the way - why would Satan hate that? Why would LCMS support that? I was hoping to at least see something "different" than the Joel Osteen model - a call to the Reformation perhaps - but no. sadly no.

Google "Water's Edge LCMS" or "Crosspoint Katy" for some real fun.

Please give the sources that $25m was given by Ablaze and used to pay for the billboard. I believe it but show source and proof please.

Jefferson Hills did receive $25m from Ablaze for rent on a building. They technically did not spend the money on these signs. So one needs to watch ones language. Let's not hurriedly or deceptively misstate the facts. It's bad enough as it is so don't over state and scandlize the cause. The same church that put up these signs received moneys from Ablaze to pay their rent. "nuf said"
